A great source for everything Linux
Lakka is essentially Retroarch with a few modifications, namely the fact that it is a standalone operating system that can be installed as the base OS to just about anything from an old PC to even some of the newer handhelds, whereas Retroarch operates as an application within an existing OS.
Debian may be the most popular Linux OS around (well short of Android - which technically is also based on the Linux Kernel) even though many people might not be familiar with the Debian name. But if you have heard of or even used the popular Ubuntu OS, then believe it or not Debian serves as the backbone of the Ubuntu platform. One of the key reasons why Debian was chosen to seed Ubuntu is because Debian is widely accepted as one of the most stable Linux OS Distros, offering 50,000+ packages for the installation of bundled software to make it very easy for new Linux users to get started.
When speaking of non-Macintosh Windows OS alternatives, Ubuntu is probably the frontrunner today in that conversation, and for good reason. This Linux-based OS was founded on the principle that software should be free and open-source: for the people, by the people. Ubuntu is derived from the ultra-stable Debian Linux OS, and for all intents and purposes has surpassed Debian in popularity due to its ease of use and core following of individual developers that eventually spawned the private company Canonical. Canonical today still mostly operates in FOSS (Free Open Source Software) yet still manages through corporate licensing, support, and server-based revenue to post net incomes such as $20M in 2020.
More to come....
